Following an event at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Bob Work, former deputy defense secretary and current defense counselor at the Center for a New American Security, discusses the possibility of standing-up a Space Force with Defense & Aerospace Report Editor Vago Muradian. Work discussed the steps required for DoD to stand-up a Space Force, potential pitfalls and challenges, Space as a contested environment, and the potential for near term offensive and defensive space operations.
CSIS hosted the Sep. 10, 2018 discussion on President Trump’s newly announced proposal--specifically what it means for DoD and the future of national security space. Panel participants included Work, Gen Robert Kehler (USAF Ret.), former Commander, USSTRATCOM, Letitia Long, former Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and Sean O’Keefe, former SECNAV and former NASA Administrator. The event was moderated by John Hamre, President and CEO of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
