In Part 1 of his interview with Defense & Aerospace Report, Maj. Gen. Ed Jackson, Jr., US Army, deputy commanding general for civil and emergency operations at the US Army Corps of Engineers, discusses USACE’s role in disaster preparedness, its post-Hurricane-Irma damage-assessment and recovery efforts in US Caribbean territories, and steps it’s taking to prepare for the storm’s imminent landfall in the continental US.
