Melanie Chesnokov, project manager for the Armed Services Trauma Rehabilitation Outcome (or ADVANCE) study, and Maj. Peter Le Feuvre, RAMC, a physiotherapist with the UK’s Defence Medical Services, discuss the first-of-its-kind study during the 2017 Defence and Security Equipment International conference and trade show in London. ADVANCE study researchers are investigating the “long-term health outcomes of” Iraq and Afghanistan veterans whose battlefield injuries were severe enough to require direct airlift to UK hospitals for treatment “between 2003 and 2014” over a 20-year period to help create better long-term treatment plans for future combat casualties.
