Magnus Nordenman, the deputy director of the Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center and author of “NATO’s Next Consortium: Maritime Patrol Aircraft,” argues the Atlantic Alliance should assemble a fleet of maritime patrol aircraft – similar to NATO’s fleets of Boeing E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System radar planes and Boeing C-17 Globemaster III transports – to improve antisubmarine warfare and maritime surveillance capabilities.
