Rick Lemaster, the director of global sales and marketing for Boeing’s vertical lift and aircraft programs, discusses the merits of the company’s bid that includes Leonardo’s MH-139 helicopter for the US Air Force’s competition to replace the service’s aging Bell UH-1H Huey helicopters. The interview was conducted at the Air Force Association’s annual Air Space & Cyber conference Sept. 17-19, 2018, where our coverage was sponsored by Elbit Systems of America, L3 Technologies and Leonardo DRS. Boeing won the $2.8 billion USAF contract on Sept. 24, beating proposals by Lockheed Martin and Sierra Nevada.
