Linda Thomas, PhD, a research engineer with the US Naval Research Laboratory, discusses the Defense Optical Channel Program’s research into “optical time transfer and quantum communications,” and how laser communications can aid US troops during an interview with Defense & Aerospace Report Editor Vago Muradian at the Pentagon’s DoD Lab Day 2017. The Defense Optical Channel Program, jointly run by the US Naval Research Laboratory, the US Air Force Research Laboratory, the US Army Research Laboratory and the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command, won a $45 million US Defense Department grant earlier this year to support the research.
